Oh! How blind I walked and lost I wandered,

Far, far away from my Savior!

Longe, longe do meu Salvador!

But from heaven He came down, and His blood He poured out,

Mas do céu Ele desceu, e Seu sangue verteu

To save such a poor sinner.

Pra salvar um tão pobre pecador.

It was at the cross, it was at the cross,

Foi na cruz, foi na cruz,

Where one day I saw

onde um dia eu vi

My sin punished in Jesus;

Meu pecado castigado em Jesus;

It was there, through faith, that my eyes were opened,

Foi ali, pela fé, que os olhos abri,

And now I rejoice in His light.

E agora me alegro em Sua luz

I had heard of that matchless grace,

Eu ouvia falar dessa graça sem par,

Which our Jesus brought from heaven;

Que do céu trouxe nosso Jesus;

But I made myself deaf, I refused to be converted

Mas eu surdo me fiz, converter-me não quis

To the Lord, who for me died on the cross.

Ao Senhor, que por mim morreu na cruz.

But one day I felt my sin, and saw

Mas um dia senti meu pecado, e vi

The sword of the law above me;

Sobre mim a espada da lei;

Quickly I fled, in Jesus I hid,

Apressado fugi, em Jesus me escondi,

And in Him I found a safe refuge.

E abrigo seguro nEle achei.

How joyful, then, is this heart of mine,

Quão ditoso, então, este meu coração,

Knowing the sublime love

Conhecendo o excelso amor

That led my Jesus to suffer there on the cross,

Que levou meu Jesus a sofrer lá na cruz;

To save such a poor sinner.

P'ra salvar a um tão pobre pecador.
