Grata nova Deus proclama

Today to the sinful world!

Hoje, ao mundo pecador!

Sweet news revealed

Doce nova revelada,

There upon the Savior's cross;

Lá na cruz do Salvador;

Blind and wandering, mankind,

Cego e desviado, o homem,

Far from the ways of the Lord,

Dos caminhos do Senhor,

Neither knows nor trusts

Desconhece e desconfia

This God, the God of love.

Deste Deus, o Deus de amor.

Glorious news, sweet news,

Grata nova, doce nova,

Comes from the lips of the Lord;

Vem dos lábios do Senhor;

Listen with rejoicing:

Escutai com alegria:

“God is light, God is love.”

“Deus é luz, Deus é amor”.

With offerings and lifeless works,

Com ofertas e obras mortas,

Sacrifices of no value,

Sacrifícios sem valor,

Deceived, mankind thinks

Enganado, pensa o homem,

To win the favor of the Creator.

Propiciar Seu Criador,

He invents ways to save himself;

Meios de salvar-se inventa;

He cries and pleads for help

Clama, roga em seu favor,

To supposed mediators,

A supostos mediadores,

Rejecting the God of love.

Desprezando o Deus de amor.

Divine light, shine forth!

Luz divina, resplandece!

Show the sorrowful sinner

Mostra ao triste pecador,

That on the cross are united

Que na cruz estão unidos

Justice and love.

A justiça e o amor.

Speak to wounded hearts,

Fala aos corações feridos,

Reveal Yourself, O saving God;

Mostra-te, Deus Salvador;

And forever we will proclaim:
