Liberto da Escravidão – 137

In Babylon, in prison there,

Em Babilônia, em prisão,

Was Israel confined;

Estava Israel,

The holy people of Mount Zion,

O povo santo de Sião,

In bitter sorrow pined.

Sofrendo dor cruel.

But one day there was heard

Mas, um dia, se ouviu,

The royal proclamation:

Que do rei a voz saiu

"Return now from your slavery!"

P’ra voltarem da escravidão.

All the people, filled with joy,

Todo povo a Jubilar,

With their harps began to sing,

Com as harpas a cantar,

As they journeyed back to Zion.

Foi em busca de Sião.

"Sing!" the Chaldeans said to them,

"Cantai" disseram os caldeus,

"The songs of Zion fair."

Os hinos de Sião,

But this only made more bitter

Mas isto mais entristeceu,

The children of Abraham.

Os filhos de Abraão.

Then God Himself set them free

Libertos foram lá por Deus

From cruel slavery.

Da vil escravidão.

Every heart was filled at once

E toda alma se encheu,

With laughter and thanksgiving.

De riso e gratidão.

"Great things has God done for us!"

Quão grandes coisas nos fez Deus!

They sang with grateful voice.

Cantavam, já. então;

Like a dream it truly seemed,

E qual um sonho pareceu

Their journey back to Zion.

A volta pra Sião.

In this world, like Babylon,

E neste mundo, qual Babel,

Many still remain in chains,

Há muitos em prisão,

Suffering cruel misery,

Sofrendo uma dor cruel,

Without comfort or hope.

Sem ter consolação.

But from Christ the message came,

Mas, de Cristo se ouviu

God's own voice has called again:

Que de Deus, a voz saiu,

"Come back now from your slavery!"

P’ra voltarem da escravidão.

Will you now receive His call?

Queiras isto aceitar,

Take your harp and come and sing,

Com a harpa vem cantar,

And return again to Zion.

E, assim, volta p’ra Sião.
