The day is dawning bright,

O dia vem, a clarear,

The night has fled, the light now shines from heaven;

Já fugiu a noite, brilha a luz dalém;

A mighty cry is heard: Prepare!

Um grito soa: aprontar!

Christ is coming soon!

Cristo, em breve, vem!

Like a mighty storm wind,

Qual forte vendaval, rugindo Sobre o mar,

Roaring over the sea,

Escuta-se a mensagem, que do céu provém;

The message from heaven resounds;

Ouvi a grande nova, que alegria traz;

Hear the glorious news that brings such joy:

“Cristo, em breve, vem!”

"Christ is coming soon!"

Ó povos, tribos e nações

O peoples, tribes, and nations,

Que escravizados no pecado estais,

Enslaved beneath the power of sin,

Ó preparei os corações!

Prepare your hearts!

Da morte queiram acordar;
