I long to hear the voice

Anelo eu ouvir a voz do meu bom Salvador,

Of my gracious Savior;

Seus ditos um banquete são, banquete de amor

His words are a banquet,

Qual o maná celestial, vigor me dão também,

A banquet of love.

Me trazem sempre instrução do Mestre de Belém.

Like the manna from heaven,

They also give me strength;

As palavras do Senhor,

They always bring me instruction

São palavras de vigor,

From the Master of Bethlehem.

Me ensinam, me guiam,

Me trazem a luz, as palavras de Jesus.

The words of the Lord

Are words of strength;

Só as palavras de Jesus infundem-me valor,

They teach me, they guide me,

Afastam do meu coração os males e a dor.

They bring me light,

A mansidão do Salvador me fazem conhecer,

The words of Jesus.

O gozo divinal do céu me trazem ao meu ser.

Em todo tempo meu Jesus, palavras me dirá,

Fill me with courage;

Nas provas elas são meu bem, sua voz me alentará,

They drive away from my heart

Minh’alma nelas tem a paz, quem pode me turbar,

All evil and sorrow.

Jesus me dá real festim me chama pra cear.

They help me know

The gentleness of the Savior;

Lugar não há. nem haverá no mundo de horror.

They bring into my soul

Em que o perdido tenha paz a não ser no Senhor

The heavenly joy.

Pois, as palavras que nos diz, são fonte de poder,

Pra todo pobre pecador, que humilhado crer.

At all times my Jesus

Will speak words to me;

In times of trial

They are my comfort,

His voice encourages me.

In them my soul finds peace;

Who can trouble me?

Jesus gives me a royal feast

And calls me to dine.

There is no place,

Nor will there ever be,

In this dreadful world,

Where the lost can find peace

Except in the Lord.

For the words He speaks

Are a fountain of power

For every poor sinner

Who humbly believes.
