The Words of Jesus - 505
I long to hear the voice
Of my gracious Savior;
His words are a banquet,
A banquet of love.
Like the manna from heaven,
They also give me strength;
They always bring me instruction
From the Master of Bethlehem.
The words of the Lord
Are words of strength;
They teach me, they guide me,
They bring me light,
The words of Jesus.
Only the words of Jesus
Fill me with courage;
They drive away from my heart
All evil and sorrow.
They help me know
The gentleness of the Savior;
They bring into my soul
The heavenly joy.
At all times my Jesus
Will speak words to me;
In times of trial
They are my comfort,
His voice encourages me.
In them my soul finds peace;
Who can trouble me?
Jesus gives me a royal feast
And calls me to dine.
There is no place,
Nor will there ever be,
In this dreadful world,
Where the lost can find peace
Except in the Lord.
For the words He speaks
Are a fountain of power
For every poor sinner
Who humbly believes.
