When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,

Se da vida as vagas procelosas são,

When discouraged, thinking all your hope is lost,

Se, com desalento, julgas tudo vão,

Count the many blessings, name them one by one,

Conta as muitas bênçãos, dize-as duma vez,

And you'll be amazed at all that God has done!

E verás, surpreso, quanto Deus já fez!

Count your blessings from God's gracious hand!

Recebidas da divina mão!

Count them all, yes, every one,

Vem dizê-las, todas duma vez,

And you'll be amazed at all that God has done!

E verás, surpreso, quanto Deus já fez!

Are you filled with sorrow? Is your burden great?

Tens acaso mágoas? Triste é teu lidar?

Is the heavy cross becoming hard to bear?

E a cruz pesada, que tens de levar?

Count the many blessings, never cease to trust,

Conta as muitas bênçãos, não duvidarás,

And with joyful singing you will spend your days.

E em canto alegre os dias passarás.

When you see another with his wealth and gold,

Quando vires outros com seu ouro e bens,

Think upon the treasures promised to your soul!

Lembra que tesouros prometidos tens!

Earthly riches never could obtain for you

Nunca os bens da terra poderão comprar

That celestial home prepared in heaven above.

A mansão celeste que vais habitar.

Whether small or great the conflict here may be,

Seja o conflito fraco ou forte aqui,

Do not be discouraged: God will stand by thee;

Não te desanimes: Deus será por ti,

With His gracious help, relieving every care,

Seu divino auxílio, minorando o mal,

He will give you comfort and your final crown.
