How glorious, Christian, it is to think

Quão glorioso, cristão, é pensares

Of the city beyond compare,

Na cidade que não tem igual,

Where the walls are of pure jasper,

Onde os muros são de puro jaspe.

And the streets are of gold and crystal;

E as ruas de ouro e cristal;

Think how glorious it will be

Pensa como será glorioso

To behold the triumphant multitude,

Ver-se a triunfal multidão.

Who, singing, await the arrival

Que cantando, aguarda a chegada

Of those who overcome the tribulation.

Dos que vencem a tribulação.

To see the river of life and light,

Ver o rio da vida e luz,

Whose banks are adorned with lilies,

Cujas margens juncadas de lírios,

The glory of our Jesus;

São a glória de nosso Jesus;

There shall be everlasting dawn,

Haverá lá perpétua aurora,

For God Himself will be its light;

Pois Deus mesmo a alumiará;

And the Lamb, with His bride,

E o Cordeiro, com Sua esposa,

Will shine forever, day and night.

Noite e dia resplandecerá.

Think of the heavenly melody

Pensa na celestial melodia

That will fill the land of Beulah;

Que a terra encherá, de Beulá;

And the sweet harmony of harps

E das harpas a doce harmonia

Will be heard while crossing the Jordan.

Ao passar o Jordão se ouvirá.

Even through sufferings that lead to death,

Mesmo em dores que levam à morte,

Remain steadfast; do not turn back;

Sê constante, não voltes atrás,

Your inheritance, your eternal destiny,

Tua herança, tua eterna sorte,

Is Jesus, the Faithful and the True.

É Jesus, o Fiel, o Veraz.

If it is glorious to think of the greatness

Se é glorioso pensar nas grandezas,

And pleasures found here,

Nos prazeres que acodem aqui,

How much greater it will be to enjoy the riches

Qual será desfrutar as riquezas

That await the redeemed there!

Que esperam os salvos, ali?

The charms of this world cannot

Os encantos do mundo não podem

Dim that glory beyond;

Ofuscar essa glória dalém;

Do you not long to live, dear friend,

Não almejas viver, ó amigo,

In that beautiful Jerusalem?

Nessa formosa Jerusalém?
