O Exilado – 36

Harpa Cristã

Letra

The Exile - 36

Far from my beautiful homeland
I now remain;
I have grown weary.
Jesus has sent me His greeting.
Oh, when
Will I go there?

Little birds,
Beautiful flowers,
Try to charm me;
These earthly splendors
Are passing,
But my eyes
Are fixed on
My home.

Jesus gave me
His promise:
He will come
To take me home.
My heart
Longs to go;
I wish
To fly there now.

My sins
Were many;
I was
Very guilty.
But His blood
Has made me clean;
I am going
To my heavenly homeland.

Like a child
Longing for home,
I want to return.
Like a little bird
To its nest,
I long
To rest
In His arms.

He is faithful;
His coming
Is certain.
When?
I do not know.
But He commands me
To stay alert;
From this exile
I shall return.

I await His coming,
Singing
Of my home
In heaven.
I shall hear
His footsteps
Beyond
The dark veil.

Little birds,
Beautiful flowers,
Try to charm me;
These earthly splendors
Are passing,
But my eyes
Are fixed on
My home.
