In the hours I spend thinking of Jesus,

Nas horas que passo pensando em Jesus

I drive away the darkness, seeking the light;

As trevas desfaço, buscando a luz;

What precious moments of life they are to me!

Que horas de vida, tão doces p'ra mim,

Jesus invites me to come up to Him.

Jesus me convida, que eu suba p'ra Si!

Leaving this life behind, without any fear,

Da vida voando, sem nenhum temor;

Seeking above the love beyond the veil;

Acima buscando do véu o amor;

What sweet joy, what a blessed sight,

Que doce ventura, que aspecto feliz,

My soul praises this new nature.

Que nova natura minh'alma bendiz.

The roaring of the sea, the gentle breeze,

Do mar o bramido, da brisa o langor

The song of the bird in tender love,

Da ave o carpido de doce amor,

Speak to me in heavenly harmony,

Me falam sentidos acordes dos céus,

And bring to my ears the hymns of God.

Me trazem aos ouvidos os hinos de Deus!

My eager soul longs to walk

Minh’alma ansiosa já quer percorrer

The glorious path that I shall see;

A senda gloriosa que eu hei de ver;

What a beautiful thing, oh, what unveiled light!

Que coisa tão bela; oh! que luz sem véu!

Jesus reveals to me the mysteries of heaven.

Jesus me revela mistérios do céu.
